The creation of Spooky Scurry was inspired by my initial want to create an endless runner game similar to Subway Surfers. The visual compnents of the game were inspired by the upcoming event of Halloween, but I still wanted the game to be cute and playful. Looking at endless runner games, like Subway Surfers, I knew I wanted some sort of obstacle the player has to move around as well as a power-up the user can implement for an advantage. I decided for a ghost be the main character of the game who would we've around a graveyard collecting souls and cats.
To create the game, I started by planning my game logic and figuring out how I could simplify the Subway Surfers logic. I decided the character would have to move around obstacles while capturing points on the screen and try to obtain as many points as possible. Once this basic logic was planned out, I began implementing it in code, creating the basic game function of movement, collision, and point collection. Once this was implemented, I started creating other elements such start and end screens as well as buttons and diff. Next was the implementation of the second canvas and allowing it display the user score as well as the power-ups. Once most of the functions were implemented, Next came implement aestheic details as well as sounds. Assets were obtained online via open source outlets and utilized to make the viuals and sounds.
